There are many similarities between the two webcams, but there are some pretty big differences too. The Logitech BRIO and the Logitech C920 are currently (in my opinion) the best best Logitech streamcam options on offer.
Many people who have started or are just starting in the content creation industry, including building a Youtube or Twitch following, have most likely used a Logitech C920 camera or heard of it.
As always, we recommend using good studio lights to get the best possible quality out of any webcam and cameras.
Let's take a look and see which one is better suited for your needs!
The Logitech Brio 4k webcam is a remarkable piece of technology that streams crystal-clear video with superb resolution, frame rate, color, and detail, including autofocus and 5x HD zoom.
Logitech spared no expense in designing the Brio webcam. Boasting excellent streaming video quality with up to 4k HD resolution and 5x HD zoom, it does not disappoint.
The Brio webcam delivers 4K video at 30 fps, HD 1080p at 60 and 30fps, and 720p at 90, 60, and 30fps.
I don't see the point of using 90 fps as most stream services cap out at 60 fps.
Recording or streaming in 4k can be demanding on your CPU compared to 1080p, so keep that in mind if you have an older computer.
An added benefit of the Brio is that it has a larger resolution than other webcams. Sure, you won't get DSLR quality from any of these cameras, but the improved resolution of the Brio webcam is more of an additional benefit than anything else. With the Brio, you’ll have more pixels, but it may not be worth an upgrade yet if you are happy with your Logitech C920.
The Brio has several features to improve your video quality, like RightLight 3 and HDR. This is done by increasing the range of colors you can capture with your webcam.
This technology will automatically adjust itself to help you look professional in any lighting environment, including low light or direct sunlight.
By supporting High Dynamic Range (HDR), the Brio can deliver a higher image standard that makes its older siblings pale in comparison.
This webcam comes equipped with three preset fields of view: 65°, 78°, or 90° degrees FOV. This allows you to have various options so you can find the right FOV that'll work for you.
It does come with two built-in omnidirectional microphones, but this should not be a deciding factor in getting this webcam. In my opinion, you should be using a better external microphone anyways as the audio quality is not that good.
The background replacement software (3rd Party) is not good. If you want this option, you should use a green screen behind you for better visuals.
The Logitech C920 Pro HD webcam is probably the #1 best-selling webcam on the planet.
It features crystal clear Full HD 1080p video at 30fps and 720p HD video at 60 fps or 30 fps.
The Logitech's C920 webcam is a great choice for your streams, video chats, and recordings. It has H.264 video compression, a Full HD glass lens with precisely tuned autofocus, and automatic low-light correction, which gives you the best quality possible.
The C920 also comes with two built-in microphones, but once again, I recommend using something external instead.
Most users who buy this webcam tend to use it for either streaming or web chatting on Skype calls.
The C920 is perfect for older machines as the recording and streaming performance hit is minimal on your CPU, even on an older computer.
If you aren't recording high-quality production videos, I would recommend trying out the Logitech C920. It's best used for streaming or doing online calls.
In average lighting conditions, the Brio produces the best images and videos overall. However, the C920 can outperform more expensive cameras if you give proper lighting. Lights are more important than the camera itself in most cases.
This would all depend on how you would use each of these webcams. If you are using it to stream on Twitch, then the C922 at 720p/60fps option would be the best option. But if you need to record videos in 4k, the Brio would win hands down.
Check out our comparison guide between the C920 and C922 if you feel like the C922 might be better for you.
The Brio is worth it if you are looking for the best 4k streaming webcam on the market. It will provide the best image quality and recording on the market compared to what other webcams offer.
The Brio is the top-of-the-line webcam on the market. With its advanced features and superior specs, it isn't easy to find a competitor that you can compare it with. However, here are some cams that you could consider:
- Razer Kiyo pro
- Elgato Facecam
- Dell Ultrasharp webcam
- Avermedia PW513
- Logitech c930e
- Logitech c925e
The Brio is the better option between these two webcams; there are no questions about it.
But we recommend you get the Logitech C920 if all you need is basic video quality, perhaps for content creators live streaming on Twitch, YouTube or doing basic video chat and video conferencing on Skype, Zoom, and other services.
However, if your needs are more advanced or specific, it’s worth spending the extra money on the Brio.
This is especially true if you are in the market for a 4K resolution webcam and you're looking for one that can give you the best recording and image quality on the market, then the Logitech Brio webcam will be the best option for you.
Now, if you don't need a 4Kresolution, the Logitech C920 would be my recommendation.
Your lighting also affects the picture aspect of your webcam. You can get close to DSLR camera quality with proper studio lights which are more affordable these days.
